Oregon quarterback Dante Moore is officially out Saturday against No. 21 UCLA (2:30 CT, CBS), per the Big Ten injury report. Moore sustained a concussion against USC on Sept. 26. Former Nebraska starter Dylan Raiola, who threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns in relief in the USC win, makes his first start for the Ducks. Raiola is 13–9 as a college starter with 5,232 career passing yards.
HX has Oregon −24.5, 89.0%. Vegas has Oregon −11.5, O/U 59.5, and FPI makes it Oregon by 14.7. That’s a 13-point HX–Vegas gap, the largest among ranked matchups this week.
Two things drive it. HX rates Oregon fourth nationally (6.90) against an AP rank of 13, and it rates UCLA 45th (1.40) against an AP rank of 21. UCLA is 4–0 under first-year coach Bob Chesney, 13 months after an 0–3 start got DeShaun Foster fired. HX’s inputs (talent, prior-year SP+/Elo/SRS, portal net, returning production) haven’t caught up with that turnaround.
HX also doesn’t price a quarterback swap. Raiola is a former five-star with a full résumé, but the number on the board is a team number.
Why it matters
It’s the week’s only other ranked-vs-ranked game besides Georgia–Alabama, and it’s where HX disagrees most with both the AP and the book.
